COURSE TOPICS/ FLOW

The course is designed to run for sixteen (16) weeks with teachings on the Holy Spirit. One lesson would be treated per week all through the course duration.

Find below brief introduction and summary into each lesson and other information important for each learning.

LESSON 1 : THE PROCESSION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Considering the subject of relationship and partnership in our world today especially the aspect of safety and security associated with the involvement of two or more number of persons and partners; one important factor to be considered is the need to carry out background checks of the individual or company.

The doctrine of procession has to do with the being and eternity of the Holy Spirit in His relation to the Father and the Son. As a division of the doctrine of the Trinity, it affirms that the Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Trinity, the same in substance and essence, and equal in power, eternity, and glory. The proper statement of the doctrine is that the Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son, as the Son proceeds from the Father.

LESSON 2: KNOWLEDGE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

In the previous lesson, we were able to understand through scriptures the doctrine of procession of the Holy Spirit. Lesson two (2) takes us some steps further into the knowledge of the Third Person in the Trinity. In this lesson we will cover these areas:-

• Why Should We Learn About The Holy Spirit? • Who is The Holy Spirit? • Is the Holy Spirit God? • Is the Holy Spirit a Person?

LESSON 3: DESIGNATIONS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (1)

From learning about the doctrine of procession to knowing about the person of the Holy Spirit, it is important to also know His names. Considering the human perspective, Psychologists, sociologists, and organizational experts have studied the importance of names as well as the impact of calling others by their names. In this lesson we will cover the following areas:-

• The Name - HOLY SPIRIT • Works of the Holy Spirit • Importance of the Holy Spirit

LESSON 4: DESIGNATIONS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (2)

In lesson three (3) we began our learning on the names of the Third person of the Trinity, in this lesson we will be learning more about the person of the Holy Spirit. It is right to first know who a person is before you have a close relationship with the person. While you cannot know everything about a person before getting into a close relationship with him/her however, there are some basic things you must know before you get into a close relationship with him/her.

Such information is basic and reasonably constant, the extent of information gathered may just be the person's name, gender and personality. In same vein, if we desire to have a close relationship with the Holy Spirit, we must start by first knowing Him from these three (3) perspectives. In this lesson we shall learn the following:-

• The meaning of the name Holy Spirit from the Hebrew and Greek. • Why we are called holy as children of God. • What Holiness means. • The Eras of the Godhead through the Lens of the Tabernacle Partitions.

LESSON 5: DESIGNATIONS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (3)

In the previous lesson, we learnt one designation for the third person of the Trinity, we learnt about the Holy Spirit. In this lesson, we shall be learning about another designation which is The Comforter. In this lesson we shall learn the following:-

• Why Jesus sent the comforter. • The comforting role Jesus played for His disciples. • Who the Comforter is. • Duties of the comforter.

LESSON 7: DESIGNATIONS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (5)

In previous lessons on the designations of the Holy Spirit, we have been able to establish His name as The Comforter. And, as The Comforter the Holy Spirit performs the function of an advocate and helper for the saint. In this lesson, add up to the previous as it focuses on the functions of the Comforter as the Intercessor and Consoler of the saints. In this lesson we shall learn the following:-

LESSON 10: DESIGNATIONS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (8)

The teaching in lesson ten (10) is focused on learning about, The Spirit of Christ. Going by John's account, we understand that before Jesus left the earth He told His disciples that He will not leave them as orphans. Jesus assured His disciples that He will come to them. In this lesson we shall learn the following:-

• Why Jesus dwell in the saint in the person of His Spirit. • What the glory of God is. • What the face of God is. • The Glory and The Power. • What the back of God is. • Why God showed His power to Moses. • How God's face is revealed to the saints.

LESSON 11: DESIGNATIONS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT  (9)

Living ever joyful is an important attitude every believer must possess and maintain. The Spirit of glory empowers the saints to be joyful no matter what comes their way. This lesson covers why words are powerful and as disciples of Christ we are to be ever prepared to receive painful words from men as we walk with God.

LESSON 12: DESIGNATIONS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT  (10)

In order for us to understand the Holy Spirit by His name "The Spirit of Grace" we must understand what grace means. we would understand how before and under the Old Testament man e.g Noah, had to look for the grace of God by His righteous living and good works until he found it.  However, under the New Covenant, even as believers we cannot find grace in God's sight no matter the righteous works or good deeds. Grace now finds men by coming to show Himself to mankind as well as bring salvation for mankind.

LESSON 13: SYMBOLIC REPRESENTATIONS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT - WATER

The Holy Spirit is the "parakletos" which means a comforter of the same kind with Jesus thus, safe to use some of the symbols and types that represent Jesus for the Holy Spirit. Jesus answered,"Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God".  John 3:5. In this lesson we shall be concentrating more on the following:-

• Importance and Purpose of water in the human body as it relates to the Holy Spirit. • Essential functions of water that keeps us going as it relates to the Holy Spirit.

LESSON 14: SYMBOLIC REPRESENTATIONS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT-WATER (2)

In this lesson, we shall continue to build on the previous lesson on the water symbolism of the Holy Spirit. We would further learn how the Holy Spirit holds so much importance on the earth and in the Christian life. And, learn the unique qualities and properties of the Holy Spirit that make Him so important and basic to the Christian life. The following knowledge would aid our learning in this lesson:-

Water as Salvation or Eternal Life The Water as the Spirit of God The Fountains of Living Water The Washing Power of the Word Water is the medium through which baptism is performed, and its extremely fitting.

LESSON 15: SYMBOLIC REPRESENTATIONS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT - DOVE

The use of a dove as a type of the Holy Spirit is strikingly brought to our attention in the description of the baptism of Christ. On that occasion all four (4) Gospels mention that the Holy Spirit descended upon Christ in the form of a dove (read: Matt 3:16; Mark 1:10; Luke 3:22; John 1:32). The type is nowhere explained in Scripture however, from the nature of the dove, it may be inferred that it speaks of a number of qualities which depict the fruit of the Spirit. Some nature and qualities of the dove would be considered to understand the fruit (qualities) of the Holy Spirit.

LESSON 16: SYMBOLIC REPRESENTATIONS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT- DOVE (2)

In this lesson,  the qualities of a dove and the symbolic representation of the Holy Spirit as dove will be learned. We shall be using Noah's dove as a case study to understand the operations of the Holy Spirit in three (3) outgoings.

Through the scriptures, we would understand how the dove is illustrative of the fruit of the Holy Spirit, the meekness of Christ, of the church, of converts to the church and of the return of Israel from captivity that is, with respect to its flight.
